PRE-TREATMENT TIPS

SMALL DETAILS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

What to do BEFORE Your Microblading Procedure

The right pre-care can truly make a massive difference on results. To help you get the best results possible from your microblading procedure I’ve outlined my lessons learned and provided a formula that will help to ensure you get the best results possible. Please note that each client’s skin responds differently to microblading based on skin type (oily, dry, age, etc) and this information acts as a guideline only.

You may need to reschedule if:

  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or sick.

  • If you have had microdermabrasion, chemical peel, micro-needling, IPL, laser hair removal, etc. in the last 4 weeks, let’s reschedule for just after that time period to give your skin time to heal properly.

  • If you have any recent scars (less than a year) in the treatment area we are working on, please let me know and we will determine if we can work around them or need to reschedule after the scar is 1 year old. The tissue continues to change and won’t retain ink properly if it is prior to 1 year, and I want to make sure you are happy with my work.

  • If you are in remission or have a serious illness/disease, you will need a doctor’s approval first to make sure you are going to be ok.

  • Please do not book this appointment right before a vacation or time about to be spent in the sun! You will need 3-4 weeks out of the sun please.

The Prep
If you’ve ever hired a professional painter they will tell you that “it’s all in the prep”.  Well, microblading is very similar.  You will get much better results when you properly prep. It all starts with a good canvas! The treatment area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.  Here’s how to get your skin ready for your procedure.

Please do not:

  • pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure

  • tan two weeks prior or have a sunburned face

  • have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to treatment

  • work out up to 3hrs before appointment

  • get botox 0-4 weeks prior

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)

  • Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 0-3 days before the procedure

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit:

  • This is the most important! Please do not drink caffeine or alcohol for 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. The longer you can avoid caffeine and alcohol, the better for pigment retention and better absorption of numbing cream, which means better pain management. ;)

  • Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

  • Please avoid any oil supplements, fish, oils of any kind, etc. 24 hours prior to your appointment, as it affects your blood and in turn affects your ink retention.

What to Do:

  • Use DYI scrub the night before and morning of your treatment (see recipe below)

  • If you are normally sensitive, or about to get your menstruation, then I’d suggest taking 2 extra strength Tylenol right before the appointment, but please NO IBUPROFEN, ADVIL, or ASPIRIN.
